Put your money where your mouth is!

Have you ever heard someone say, "put your money where your mouth is"? I've been thinking about that very statement lately. That statement basically challenges us to stop talking the talk, but start walking the walk to back up our strong words. Anybody can say they are radical, or on fire for Christ. How many of us are showing it? Anybody can dream up fantastic ideas, but never put them into action for the Kingdom. How many of us are putting our faith into action, and standing amazed and seeing the salvation of the Lord? What has God called you to do? Are you just an idea man who never exercises his faith to implement those ideas into God's plan? We are a part of a ministry right now that started in the heart of one man, Jon Henderson, called Frequency. We are partnered with Whosoever Ministries, and The Basement(www.thebasementonline.com). Our next event is April 24th @ 6:30 pm @ the Boaz Church of God. What started in the heart of one man, is now burning in the hearts of many. We are now getting a hold of what it means to do and not just hear the word of God. (James 1:22) Hey! Do you love Jesus?

why?

So my question today is why? Yeah I know, an incredibly vague question, so here are details in the form of a scenario. Why is it that the world around us can't always see the bigger picture. I can understand why they can get so caught up in their everyday life that they lose site of things they have no control over, but it doesn't take but a second to see that there are other people on this planet that live and breathe and move. We get so involved in our own lives, we begin to value our own opinions as if it were the established truth, when in fact it is just one opinion. It stands to reason that there are a few absolute truths in the world, the most important one being the Holy Bible, but the methods of spreading the "Good News" of that book, vary in great degrees. So I ask again, why? Why do we use leverage of sorts to support our opinion so much so that we give no allowance for others to have valued opinions themselves. When I say leverage, I mean authority, position, fame, youth, age or experience. I make a vow, to open myself to opinions of others, so that I may gain insight that I would normally ignore. By doing so, I hope that others will also give credit to the opinions that I present, so long as I present them as what they are, opinions. Hey, do you love Jesus?

Outpouring

I really believe that we are about to receive an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Life-change student ministries. We have prayed and fasted, and desperately need to continue, and I feel an awesome presence of his power surging, overcoming us, and consuming us. I must step aside and allow the Holy Spirit to do his work. It is so hard for me to watch, as the goodness of God is being poured out, some students totally receiving, and others turning away, ultimately turning down God's offer of power, presence, and peace. I see them wanting something, desiring something, and then ignoring that God has everything they need. The core group will get the things they need and grow, and mature. My heart is heavy, as a shepherd, for those who will not come together with the others and receive from our great God. My soul is thirsty oh God! My hunger is for you! Fill us with your presence! Pour out your power! Consume us Lord with all that you have in store for us. We receive from you!

Up Late, Coincidence? I think not!

Ok so I'm up late again. I have been trying to get in bed a little earlier, but I just can't get away from Law & Order Criminal Intent & SVU re-runs. Tonite I watched Psych for the first time and I'm afraid I will watch again. Anyway, here's what I'm pondering. I have had a few people pop up in my mind for prayer, so am I up to pray for them, or is it a coincidence? If you believe as I do, that God will speak in that still small voice, then you would err on the side of caution and definitely make the petitions on their behalf. After all, my dad always says, "pray for me, i need the prayer, & you need the practice. So, in the least of things, I have practiced, or exercised my prayer life. I believe it is a win win situation. I know, I know, you're asking why the big deal? The reason I am confronting the issue is because many times in the past I would have just gotten up, had a snack, watched Sports Center for the 5th hour of the night, and then fell asleep on the couch sitting straight up, establishing a sore neck for the morning. The crime? Somebody, some situation, some need, didn't get any attention, and any faith applied, in a supplication to God almighty, who already knew of the need, just didn't hear about from me, which makes me apathetic, and implicates me in not doing what I should. So, no longer will I be guilty, of ignoring the nudging of the holy spirit to lift up that late night, early morning, prayer. Done. Hey! Do you love Jesus?

Monday, February 16, 2009

It's Monday morning, and Mondays are usually filled with ideas, strategies, and planning for student ministry and sanctuary choir. I usually review the weekend with myself and gather information that will help grow our ministry. God is blessing our church. God is blessing all of the ministries. Here lately, I feel like student ministry is lagging behind. We have a great youth staff, some of which are new. I want the entire staff to realize their role in this student ministry and plug in. You know how at Christmas when hanging multiple strands of lights, if one strand isn't plugged in, it could have an effect on the other strands. But even if the other strands light up, and the one strand isn't plugged in, it is very noticeable. and the purpose of giving off light together isn't fulfilled. We have a great group of students that I believe in. I am going to pour my life into them. I just want us as a staff to be together in this ministry, even though we are different strands, I want us to be plugged in together. Hey! Do you love Jesus?

just getting started

Ok, so I guess I'm blogging now. I am just getting started, so this will be short. I am the Student Pastor of Life-Change Student Ministries, at Boaz CoG. We meet at The Flipside, our place of worship. I am also the music minister for the sanctuary choir. I absolutely love working with students, and it is my desire to see most of them go to heaven. lol Ok, ok, all of them! So, that's all for now. Hey, do you love Jesus?
